Pavement & Roadway Standards — Source Registry¶
Airwai, Inc. | Living index of authoritative documents underpinning the LAIRA compliance matrices. Maintained since: May 11, 2026
Purpose¶
A single, scrape-ready index of reputable government, standards-body, and DOT publications cited across LAIRA's airfield, roadway, and sidewalk compliance work. This file is designed to:
- Document provenance for every claim in the compliance matrices.
- Survive ASTM/FHWA URL changes by tracking both canonical issuer pages and known mirror locations.
- Seed automation. Each entry follows a consistent schema so a future scraper (cron job + signed PDF cache + integrity hash) can build an in-house archive without re-doing the discovery work.
- Feed docs.airwai.com. When we lift this into the public docs site, each standard becomes a citation page with the PDF embedded or linked.
Schema (one entry per standard)¶
id: # short slug, used as cross-reference
title: # full document title
issuer: # FHWA, ASTM, AASHTO, DoD, Access Board, FAA, state DOT
doc_type: # standard | regulation | manual | guidance | handbook | technical report
edition_or_date: # e.g. "20" for ASTM D6433-20, or "Dec 2023"
jurisdiction: # federal | DoD | state-DOT-<state> | international
surface: # airfield | roadway | sidewalk | parking | shared
primary_url: # issuer's canonical page (preferred citation)
pdf_url: # direct PDF if known (mirror tolerated when issuer doesn't publish PDF)
fallback_urls: # any reputable mirrors we've validated
relevance: # 1-line role in LAIRA's compliance story
last_verified: # YYYY-MM-DD of last manual click
notes: # anything odd: pay-walled, retired, replaced, etc.

Scrape Plan (future automation)¶
When we build the in-house archive, the plan is:
- Cron a scraper (weekly) that walks every
pdf_urlandfallback_urlsentry. - SHA-256 hash + content-length check on each download to detect upstream document changes.
- Cache locally under
docs.airwai.com/standards/<id>/<edition>/<filename>.pdfwith a checksum file. - On change, file an issue in the docs.airwai.com repo so a human reviews the diff before re-citing.
- Bump
last_verifiedautomatically on success. - For pay-walled standards (ASTM, AASHTO): only metadata + non-substantive excerpts cached; full copies remain license-bound.
- Build a citation API at
docs.airwai.com/api/citations/<id>returning the structured entry as JSON for use by sales decks, customer responses, and the CIP-package agent.
This registry is the seed file. Once we have ~50 entries (airfield + roadway + DoD + sidewalks + state DOTs + ICAO/STANAG), we lift it into the docs.airwai.com git repo as standards.yaml (split by domain) and the markdown rendering becomes a generated page.
